Since 1905, we have sparked opportunities for young Australians around the country

Since our creation in 1905 by the revolutionary JJ “Boss” Simons, our organisation has grown from its original intent which was, the Young Australia Football League. Boss had a passion, he wanted to create equal and accessible space for every young Australian all over the country. With over 100 years of business, we are the oldest youth organisation in W.A. one might say we have time on our side.

What We do

“We provide young people experiencing barriers with connections and resources to achieve their goals and become empowered, active citizens.”

-Our Mission

“For all young people to achieve their full potential.”

— Our Vision

Our Values

The importance community and a sense of belonging.

Delivering positive outcomes.

Being accountable, ethical, and acting with fairness.

Being a tolerant organisation that respects diversity.

Partnerships with others.

In our 100+ years, we have had the opportunity to build and progress into the organisation we are today, YAL where we spark opportunities. 2015 saw the progression and development of our scholarship program, now aptly called YAL Connect, where with the support of sponsors, partners, donors and members we offer scholarships to Young Australians aged 15-25 all over the country. In our short stint of scholarships, we have supported 74 students to the tune of $686,000 and they are only growing.

We see the desire in creating supportive networks, a safe place to fall and create opportunities for recipients to reach their full potential and hope to grow our organisation to access and reach more astonishing young Australians.
