YAL is an organisation that has been going for over 100 years and in 2014 decided to create and launch their scholarship program. The motivation for these scholarships was to give young people a helping hand and to support them on their educational pathway. From books to money for lunch the flexibility is there to support each unique situation. The scholarships are open for students between the ages of 12-25 years in 3 categories; Lower secondary years 7-9, Upper secondary years 10-12 and Post-secondary ages 18-25.
This year, 2018, is the fourth year of offering the scholarships and unfortunately there has been a lack in applications, after the initial closing date had passed the judging panel decided to extend the closing date for a month. With this extension applications will now be opened until the 15th of October. By extending it for a month the YAL hopes to gain more applicants this year for the specialized scholarships. In doing so we hope the word will be spread and are determined to reach the hearts of more young people and be the helping hand they need to welcome education with open arms.
